I shall keep this very simple. I've spent a LOT of money on exquisite Blake volumes - Kathleen Raine's "Blake and Tradition," for example - but this coffee table book is simply the best thing about Will that you can buy. Oxford University Press has a thick volume of everything that he ever wrote (no illustrations); and there have been many admirable biographies about him. But almost everything you might want to know - or to be introduced to - the mind and heart of William Blake is here. In this book. I've bought seven copies over the years; I gave the first six to budding Blakeites and with no regrets.
